Description of visuals: Opening - close-up shot with a dark hue. Inside a clinic, a male doctor in a dark blue uniform reaches his stethoscope towards the camera. He asks,
Doctor: On your own again?
Description of visuals: The next shot reveals he is a vet and inside a veterinary clinic. The patient, a calico cat in a pink patient gown, is lying on a towel spread out on the examination table. The vet places the stethoscope on its back. The cat raises its head, blinks, and says to itself,
Cat: We pets now have to come see the vet on our own
Description of visuals: Next scene. Inside a home kitchen, a mixed breed dog with brown and black fur and in a white toque and a cravat climbs up to the fridge and tries to open the door with its paws. Inside the fridge, there is a glass container with tri-colour fusilli, and a broccoli and half a red cabbage. With its tongue hanging out, the dog looks downwards and says,
Dog: cook our own food
Description of visuals: The next shot reveals the mixed breed dog’s perspective. It is looking at a pot of fusilli in tomato sauce. The dog is holding onto the pot with its left paw, while holding a spoon for cooking with its right.

A window at home comes on the next scene. A pair of cat paws are mounting a white window screen.
Cat: mount our own window screen
Description of visuals: Next, a long shot - the calico cat in a dark green engineer’s vest has finished mounting the window screen. It withdraws its paws from the screen, turns around and lies down on a blue cushion.

Inside the living room, a pet owner in grey trousers is sitting on a couch. A mixed breed dog, lying next to his feet in a blue-and-white baseball jersey is looking at him and beckoning for him to play with it. Yet, the pet owner does not respond.
Dog: and play fetch with ourselves
Description of visuals: The next shot - the mixed breed dog sits in front of an empty couch. A green, ball-shaped toy is in front of it. The dog slowly lowers its head onto the carpet, showing a sense of loss and an upset look.

The new shot bursts in a bright warm hue, Lin Min-Chen, wearing a white shirt and an orange vest, stands in the living room. On the wall behind her are photos of animals in different outfits. The shot shows Lin from the waist up. With a smile, she wags her index finger, then throws up her hands and shrugs. She says towards the camera,
Lin Min-chen: No! No! No! They aren’t humans. How can they take care of themselves?
Description of visuals: In the next four different scenes, Lin turns into a pet owner.

The first is set inside a veterinary clinic. Lin is visiting with the calico cat without its patient gown. She is speaking to the vet as she slightly bends forward and gently strokes the cat’s back to comfort it.

The second scene is inside the kitchen. With a smile, Lin kneels on the floor and pours dog food into the pet bowl. The dog, without its toque and cravat, sits and waits obediently next to the bowl. A close-up of the dog shows it enjoying its food, and Lin lovingly stroking its back.

The third scene is at the window side. Lin is mounting the window screen for the cat. Afterwards, she gives a reassuring smile. Then, in front of the window with the screen, Lin smiles, leans towards the calico cat without its vest and lying on the cushion, and plays with it.

The fourth scene is inside a sun-lit park. Behind the lawn are several trees with lush green leaves. Further back stands a row of skyscrapers. Lin appears on the right of the screen with her dog without its baseball jersey. They run happily to the left of the screen. While these last four scenes appear one after another, Lin’s voiceover says,
Lin Min-chen: Be a responsible pet owner, besides preventing pain and suffering to animals under your care, you also have to satisfy their need for healthcare, diet, living conditions and exercise.
Description of visuals: Final scene - two logos are set against an orange background. On the left is the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department logo. On the right is the Animal Welfare Project logo. Lin’s voiceover reads out the slogan below the logo:
Lin Min-chen: Fulfil your duty of care to animals. Look after them well
