| The
outbreak of SARS has affected everybody in Hong Kong. Apart
from medical treatment, we need the co-operation and understanding
of the entire community to tackle this public health problem.
For
patients who have recovered from the disease, they need
our support and encouragement to resume their normal work
or studies and re-integrate into the community. We need
not worry about contracting the disease from them, nor
should we discriminate against these patients and their
families.
For
the families of patients who have died of SARS, the community
has expressed its deep sympathy and has offered support.
The Social Welfare Department and non-government organisations
stand ready to render the assistance needed.
With
compassion and understanding, we will overcome the problems
arising from SARS.
