Human Swine Flu (Appeal to patients with influenza-like symptoms)

There has been a surge in people visiting public hospital A&E departments and Designated Flu Clinics.

Patients with influenza-like symptoms will be assessed by a doctor to determine the need for further investigation, or admission to hospital.

The test for human swine flu will only be carried out on specific groups of high-risk patients.

People with influenza-like symptoms will generally be prescribed medicines to control their symptoms.

Antiviral medicine will only be provided to high-risk patients and those with clinical indications of swine flu.
